It came out yesterday (in my time zone at least) for xbone/360 and the day before that for ps3/4 and steam, let's talk about it.
I bought it asap which is a thing I rarely do but I trust platinum.
The environments are about as bare as I expected. MGR had even less going on, though. this had bits of platforming that were really simple and mostly only there for variety's sake.
You don't start with anything unlocked, you can use the bending to punch people but the specific attributes (range, power, etc) don't apply until you unlock them as elements. I actually feel like the game should've started with more, because having all that power at your fingertips is very satisfying but by the time you have it the game is more than halfway over... if you don't play on the other difficulties you're not gonna be having the max amount of fun for long.
The story's pretty barebones but I won't spoil the little that's there. it serves its purpose and doesn't contradict anything that happens in the cartoon.
I also feel like there could've been a little more enemy variety, not counting recolors I think I only counted less than 10 unique models.
It really, really feels like bayonetta lite. you can dodge offset (which is a bayo thing) the destructible cars and pots remind me of bayo, the x,y combo system is pretty similar too. there's also a talisman system (passives that take up item slots) which reminds me of the accessories in bayo, and the combat feels as good as bayo lite too. once you've got all your elements leveled to max you can get really crazy with style switching. and there's a "chi" mechanic, where doing charged attacks fills up a meter that slowly drains and while that meter is full you do more damage and have unique attacks. it rewards you very nicely for using charge attacks, keeping up combos and not getting hit.
oh and the naga sections are a lot more fun than I expected, there's a ton of alternate paths and it can get really hard, especially on extreme. I haven't beaten extreme mode yet because of a certain naga section... I had to stop and cool off before I broke something
so yeah it's pretty great for a game that's $15 and was made in a year. I don't think it deserves a 4/10. *glares at IGN*
