Since it seems like a lot of us are tuning in to the weekly exploits of the next generation of the Joestar lineage, Josuke Higashikita it seems prudent that there be a general discussion thread where we can bring all talk regarding the series as each episode lands each week. I will make a few more of these for other ongoing series of this season. Of course everyone else can feel free to make their own as well. At the time of posting episode 3 of Diamond is Unbreakable has just landed and I must say it was a fantastic episode and a great introduction to Okuyasu who will be a big part of the story moving forward. Also I really enjoy hearing Yuki Kaji scream in agony so seeing Koichi get utterly destroyed proved to be an aural delight. Lets not forget how awesome the animation was this time around with a lot of panning shots really giving that sense of place to the locale of Morioh-cho.

I finally caught up! Now that I've watched episode three I can join in on all the fun! Before watching this, I thought the whole idea of a Stand-granting bow and arrow was a shitty way to have retconned the original idea of how indivoduals got stands, but now after watching it I don't necessarily care that it was changed. Having DIO's old witch friend be the one to have found the bow and given DIO hos powers isn't the worst way it could have gone, though there are still many plotholes. As per usual, JJBA is a "suspend your disbelief" series, and this arc is so enjoyable that I can't help but do it naturally.

But of course there is the plothole of characters claiming to have had stands since birth (Avdol, Polnareff, Kakyoin etc.) It is a little hard to believe that stands were awoken in their bloodline many many years prior to the events of the story. Again it is simply just another don't ask too many questions kinda deal. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is a wildly fun ride of a show but it definitely does require more than a little suspension of disbelief.

Yeah, look, this arc is written so well (disregarding the aforementioned plotholes) that it really doesn't matter. After they explained the bow and arrow, I just accepted it and moved on because what I was more focused on was Okuyasu being a stupid idiot but at the same time a total badass! I love this!

I FINALLY CAUGHT UP WITH JOJO BLESS THE SERIES !!! :'D stillsupersaltythedogdiedrip ok tho but 1/ I am so sick of Yuki Kaji; this is the 3rd anime series this season with him in it that I'm following and I think there were 2 other animes last season with him in it (and probably bc he sounds the same imo in all the animes ive seen him cast in lol) In JJO S4, he has more of an Eren Jaegar voice than his role in Ace Attorney which was a Kakeru (Norn9), but i think i can live w/ that he sounds nicer acting as a young boy haha I only follow the anime, so... baseless assumptions in coming :> 2/ Didn't that Polnareff looking guy w/ the bow and arrow said something about the Stands being drawn out from the deepest part of the brain? If thats the case then wouldn't it already be natural to some extent that some people are just born (or have naturally) drawn them out? In the Joestar case, their Stands came out bc Dio who was using Jonathans body and apparently their bodies are linked in some way, however Avdol is a fortune teller by trade; Kakyoin was a loner who needed a friend and someone to understand him, Iggy was a rogue dog and Polnareff... well, im not sure whether his Stand came out after his sister died or whether he had it since he was little But i do would like to have some sort of closure in that matter hehe i would also like to know why the original stand users in Part 3 were named after tarot cards and whether newer stand users would have some sort of 'group system' they're named after

I am glad someone agrees with me about Yuki kaji I find him to be insufferable and very annoying voice to hear. Interesting thought about the origins of stands, I never thought much on this theory of from the brain. That could clear any plothole there might be. As for group system there isn't really any after the tarot cards unfortunately but most stand afterwards are named after musical references. For example Josuke stand is Crazy Diamond in reference to 'Shine on you Crazy Diamond' by Pink Floyd. Also there is a stand coming up that is simply named Red Hot Chilli Pepper haha. Interested to see the change they make on CR translation.

That makes so much sense! I never thought about what that guy was talking about but, yes, he did say that the ability to wield a Stand does indeed come from deep in the brain! I'm totally on board with that!

So Episode 4 has just landed and there was some pretty big moments on this episode.
First of all we see Okuyasu and Josuke form a bond, they are going to be great friends no doubt. Also we see Josuke's battle with Okuyasu's brother and his stand Bad company (or Worse Company according to CR) However the biggest twist moment of the episode was when Koichi unleashes his own stand. It comes out as a rather mysterious egg and doesn't exactly help very much in this battle. But there is definitely more to it than meets the eye.
Thoughts on ep 4?
