Thank you to all who participated in the original trial run for the SnapThirty forums.
We were able to identify issues and course correct with the layout and structure of the forum.
After careful consideration and much thought, we have decided to revamp and relaunch the forum all the while maintaining the discussions that were from the trial run of the forum maintaining the forum's history and all threads remaining.
We hope to continue to improve the forum experience and develop a place for the SnapThirty audience to congregate and discuss these things that we all love.
Cheers,
Luke

This time around, I'm going to try my very best to stay present here on the forums. I feel like I can talk for all the members of SnapThirty when I say that it's you guys that make doing all this site stuff fun. Being able to talk to you and see you enjoying the content on the site as well as each other's company is...so damn great. The other night when we hosted our first ever live video podcast, those of you in the audience who were watching all the way through eventually started chatting to each other about a topic that wasn't brought up by us on the show, but by one of you who were watching, and by the time we looked at the chat box you guys were off having a talk about your own thing. Honestly...that really made me smile I just love the idea that people can come to SnapThirty as almost like a hub for those of us out there with similar likes. I would love for SnapThirty to become a place wherein which, yes, you can come and read news and reviews, but also a place where you can leave with more than just some information on what's new in the world of japanese pop culture...hopefully you can leave with a friend or two Luke has put a lot of effort into starting this forum, and he's put even more effort into relaunching, so let's get together and chat, yeah?

Forums are great, been part of many ProBoard forums back in the day. A lot of people migrated to social media but I still prefer the way things are presented and archived in forums. I will try to do my part whenever I am "hardly working" XD

Perhaps the only forum I dedicated hours and hours of my time to when I was younger was as a part of Gaia Online, I don't know if anyone here has ever heard of it. Basically it was just a huge forum, but you could also create your own avatar, customise it by playing games and paying in-game money, etc. It was super Anime-esque, so as a kid who was obsessed with everything Anime-like, I jumped on it straight away. Apart from that, forums havn't really been a part of my life growing up on the world wide web, but I gotta say that I am a fan, I guess I never found anything I liked as much as Gaia. I did, very briefly, become one of the real life DOLLARS, as in the gang from the hit Anime series Durarara!!. It didn't take much to join; you just had to know the secret password that would allow you to enter the site, much like in the show. It seems as though it's still running nowadays, dollars-bbs.org/, and if you're curious, the password is simply "baccano". So nothing real interesting went on when I was hanging out on that forum. You basically had regional chapters, and occasionally they'd try to organise a meet up, but often they never happened. The interesting thing was that this forum was not just a place to talk about the show, it was essentially a place where people would come to live out their fantasies of being one of the DOLLARS. So if you've ever seen Durarara!! you'd know that the gang, the DOLLARS, were not a regular gang. Essentially they were just a large group of internet friends, that may or may not have ever met each other, that just did social justice deeds in their local area. As it usually does in Anime, this got out of control and yada yada yada, but the actual DOLLARS site (in real life) stayed true to the earlier parts of the series. There was a Sydney chapter, and every time I went to check on the updates there, there was usually talk about cleaning up rubbish and getting rid of graffiti in local areas, not really any typical gang-related stuff. I never did anything of that kind, I was too young and, I guess, not ready to put myself out there to people I didn't know by face so I quickly fell off the wagon. It was cool while it lasted though!

Just found this, dollars-bbs.org/missions/. It seems as thought the forum is still dedicated to making the world somewhat of a better place.

The chat in the live video podcast was a load of fun. Turned out a few of the people in the chat understood Japanese, Which shouldn't be too surprising given the content of the podcast but I've been in a few Anime communities where their interest begins and ends at just watching anime. Kinda the reason why I like SnapThirty so much, Covers a much broader spectrum of Japanese pop culture. I'll do my best to be active on here but the last time I was heavily involved in a forum was for an MMO back in 2008-9ish, Not sure if i'll be able to handle all these extra words I can type without being restricted to my usual 140 characters or 'witty' comments

We will try and do more live video podcasts like this again in the future. Still can't believe we have clocked in 60 of these things. Hope you can have some fun with this forum and be a part of building the great SnapThirty family with us!

man Frank you've been on some good ones.
The main one I was in was the Play/GameFan magazine proboards, back when it was still in print.
Then I dabbled in SEGA Saturn forums which was a lot of fun when I was still building my collection.

I used to be really slack with keeping up on them. I used to RP on forums a little bit, but once again...I found them hard to keep up with. Often I'd muck around for an hour or two, then leave it a day, and be lost in the story XD

I think the only forum I've ever been a big part of was the one on The Living End's site back in the day when I was super obsessed with them. That was a really busy one, hard work to keep on top of everything. Always holds a special place in my heart though because it was through the people there that I discovered the world of psychobilly music. Anyway, I'm glad this forum is back! I tweet a lot about anime and talk to people there, but nothing beats having space to have actual discussions about things - especially with you SnapThirty guys too, rather than the one-sidedness of podcasts where I can't just throw in a comment or opinion (or at least, you can't hear it )

I feel like with quick social media applications like Twitter, things come and go too frequently, and there's not a lot of room for actual conversation. I mean...how much can you truly say in 140 characters?
